A New Generation Of Leadership for District 39

Why I’m Running

We deserve a politics rooted in hope over fear, people over profit, and community over division.

For too long, ordinary people have been told to lower their expectations while corporations grow richer and working families struggle to keep up. Families are paying more for housing, childcare, healthcare, groceries, and education while many communities feel increasingly unheard by the political system meant to serve them.

I believe Minnesota can do better.

At 29 years old, I am running to bring a new generation of leadership to the State Senate — leadership grounded in community, accountability, compassion, and action.

As a first-generation Senegalese American, Muslim woman, mother of two, community organizer, and advocate, my experiences have shaped my commitment to building a Minnesota where every person has the opportunity not just to survive, but to truly thrive.

This campaign is powered by people — not corporate PACs, wealthy insiders, or special interests.

Our Vision

We envision a stronger, fairer, greener Minnesota:
A state where government works for ordinary people, where communities are invested in, where young people are supported, and where working families are not left behind.

We believe:

  • Healthcare should be affordable and accessible
  • Housing should be stable and attainable
  • Workers deserve living wages and dignity
  • Young people deserve opportunity and investment
  • Public safety should include prevention, mental health, and community support
  • Fresh and healthy food should be accessible in every community
  • Climate action should protect future generations while creating jobs
  • Democracy should belong to people — not corporations

Minnesota should be a place where everyone — regardless of income, race, religion, gender, sexuality, background, or political affiliation — can live with dignity, security, and hope.

My Priorities

  1. Housing Stability: Families across District 39 are feeling the pressure of rising costs. I support affordable housing expansion, renter protections, pathways to homeownership, and policies that help longtime residents remain in the communities they helped build.
  2. Economic & Workforce Stability: Working people are carrying the weight of an economy that too often benefits corporations first. I support living wages, workforce development, worker protections, support for small businesses, and policies that strengthen working families.
  3. Youth Investment & Leadership: Young people deserve more than survival — they deserve opportunity. I support mentorship, leadership development, education investment, mental health support, smaller classroom sizes, and community-centered programs that help youth thrive.
  4. Food Access: Every family deserves access to fresh and healthy food. District 39 lacks cooperative grocery investment and stronger local food infrastructure. I want to strengthen community-based food systems and partnerships that improve long-term food security and public health.
  5. Disability & Mental Health: Community safety means prevention, support, dignity, and stability. I support stronger disability services, mental health response systems, direct care workforce investment, and community-based approaches that keep people safe while reducing cycles of crisis.
  6. Climate & Environmental Justice: Climate change is already impacting our communities. Minnesota must continue transitioning toward renewable energy, clean infrastructure, sustainability, and environmental policies that protect future generations while creating green jobs.

  7. Democracy & Accountability: People deserve a government that listens. I support campaign finance reform, reducing corporate influence in politics, transparency in government, and expanding civic engagement so everyday people have a stronger voice in decisions affecting their lives.

Guiding Values

My approach to leadership is grounded in values that center people, community, and long-term responsibility. These include:

  • Grassroots democracy – ensuring decisions reflect the voices of the community

  • Social justice and equal opportunity – creating systems that are fair and inclusive

  • Respect for diversity – recognizing and valuing the communities that make up District 39

  • Sustainability – supporting solutions that work not just now, but long-term

  • Community-based decision making – keeping people at the center of policy and action

I’m proud to align with the values of the Green Party because they reflect a commitment to accountability, community voice, and systems that truly serve people.

Election Information

The General Election will be held on November 3, 2026.
Make a plan to vote and be part of shaping the future of District 39.

Minnesota also offers a Political Contribution Refund (PCR) Program, which allows individuals to donate to participating campaigns and be refunded by the state—up to $75 per person or $150 per couple.

This means you can support this campaign and have your contribution returned to you, making it easier for more people to be part of the process.

A Campaign Powered by People

This campaign is building a people-powered movement grounded in community, service, and accountability.

We welcome workers, students, parents, educators, healthcare workers, immigrants, independents, progressives, and anyone who believes Minnesota’s future should prioritize people over corporate power.

Together, we can build a Minnesota rooted in:

  • Hope over fear
  • Unity over division
  • Service over self-interest
  • Community over corporate influence

A better Minnesota is possible.
And together, we can build it.
